WONDERDOG was developed over the Summer of 2004 while its inspiration Pugsley, a Pug, was recovering from a life-changing dog fight. The fight occurred one morning at the neighborhood dog run in Manhattan’s Financial District. As usual, Pugsley wanted to greet and play with all the dogs in the park. Unfortunately a bigger dog just wasn’t in the mood and thus a fight broke out resulting in Pugsley’s loss of vision.
While recovering, Pugsley’s owner decided it best that Pugsley accompany him to work in order to receive the attention he required. To keep the little guy comfortable, a new bed was needed – something well constructed and something that would fit nicely under a desk in a professional showroom environment. Unfortunately most beds turned out to be too cute or impractical; and more importantly, there seemed to be a significant lack of highly durable fabrics. With a strong background in design, Christopher set out to develop a bed that met his criteria – functionality and resiliency while not being overly cute. As a result, the first WONDERDOG product was unknowingly created – nothing too fussy but rather more urban sophisticate.
Although Pugsley’s experience resulted in his loss of vision, he has easily adjusted without any issue. Whether hanging out in our workroom or cautiously dodging waves at the beach, Pugsley’s ability to adapt and his endearing tenacity have been the motivation behind WONDERDOG. Today, WONDERDOG has grown from a handful of Signature UltraSuede Bedding to a complete collection of Collars, Harnesses and Leads. WONDERDOG’s Brand is easily identified through its’ core use of hi-end eco conscious materials and its’ unmistakable style . . .
